I noticed something quite profound the other day when thinking about the original Star Wars Trilogy. Now, even though Lucas' writing of dialog is the equivalent of Helen Keller's penmanship, He sure can write a hell of a story. Heres my thinking. In writing, you lean there are really only 3 kinds of stories. Man vs Machine - Star Wars: A New Hope - Obviously this is Luke vs the Death Star. As Kevin Smith pointed out, It's kinda funny that there's this massive Space Station that has this vulnerability that if you shoot down this little whole than the whole thing blows up. Man vs Man - Empire Strikes back - Luke fights Darth Vader at the end. Very nice. Classic. Hand gets cut off (or did his sleeve just get longer?). Regardless, awesome ending. Man vs Self - Return of the Jedi - Luke fights himself, does not fall to the dark side in the end. Then Luke takes off Darth's helmet and it looks like Anakin's skin is all soggy and water saturated. At least thats what it looked like to me. Good work George. Finish Revenge of the Sith and then retire. Stop modifying your old movies. Speaking of, does anyone know when American Graffiti Special Edition comes out on DVD? -=MovieQuoteoftheDay=- "I said, I'm not gonna hurt ya. I'm just gonna bash your brains in."
