**Days since lances web page has been updated: 6 Worked my 12 hour day today. I'm tired, but all-in-all it went pretty well. I threatened to sue Best Buy if they wouldn't let me go on my 10 min break (see page seven) and so they let me. Suckers. I personally sold over $700 worth of ink, our department alone sold over $250,000 worth of merchandise (which is how much the President and CEO of E*Trade makes a year) by the time I left, and the whole store by the time I left had sold over $650,000. lots od stuffs. My favorite part of the day after thanksgiving in retail: they ask, "Why is it in your ad if you won't have enough and will sell out?" First of all because we are a successful business. Second, we cant keep 300 in stock of each thing we carry. Third thing is that at the top of the ad, it says "Limited Stock, First come first serve, No Rainchecks" Now, if the customer wants to discredit this information, then the must also discredit the advertised cost of the product, right? You can't just pick and choose which parts of the add you want to be true and which you want to be false. Its all or nuthin. I guarantee that if someone was willing to buy one of our sale items at regular price, I would find a way to make it happen. I mean, most of the sale stuff was selling for about 1/4 or less of the regular price. It would be funny if anyone would have taken me up on this offer. Anyone have a good story of a bad shopping experience? -=RandomThoughtoftheDay=- Brought to you today by: Nick "Do you think Darth Vader ever got stressed out? I'll bet he did"
I work in 5 hours. For 12 hours. With one half-hour break. I'm sure I'll be telling all about it when I get home. Also look soon for a great story about my cousin. Jon Favreau said the word ber in one of the many episodes of 'Dinner for Five' that was on tonight. He said "ber-geeks". He made me proud. Also they used ber somewhere in Maxim Magizine a few weeks ago. I'm goin to bed
I am at work right now. At the box. I am waiting for an 11 meg acrobat text file to print. Do you know how long an 11 meg pdf file is? Thats right, 94 pages. So far, 72 have printed. And then I have to make copies of all of it and leave it at Starbucks. I was supposed to be out of here at 6. It is 6.30. This sucks. Also, the store manager left today at 4.30, so I had to atempt to 'run things' for an hour and a half. I wanted to leave at 6 =(. We're at 81 of 94 now. You should all watch this. E! True hollywood story. "Maybe we will find out why 'Kelly' and 'Jessi' left for that one season when 'Tori' was on." -maggie Should be rivoting. Printing is done. Have a good Thanksgiving, and be sure to buy your last minute Thanksgiving presents tonight, because everyone will be closed tomorrow! I'm goin out with T&T&Sara&Tom&Devin&Maggie&Brad&Mike tonight. Hopefully. Peace out.
To any of you coming from mattbrozovich.com, don't post anything. Its really pointless. Theres nothing cute about this site (except that cute little AIM guy up top). Matt doesn't understand that other people are allowed to kid, and joke on their websites other than him, so when I make the statement "My vision of an online community is dead," Matt takes this as an honest expressed feeling of mine, rather than a joke. I don't need his pity. Matt, I'm sorry that my site isn't as witty as yours, but then again, I don't get to spend 2 hours finding links and writing my posts while I'm getting paid at work even though I should be doing work that will actually in some way benefit the company. Last night sucked. Of the six people we have on our roster for hockey, only two showed up. My brother and I. One of the two new guys was there, and Weston came, but thats it. So we were missing five, and still no goalie. The ref's forefited the game for us. So, we just had a little scrimmage deal. It was okay, but definitely not as fun as a real game. Hopefully next week we should be good to go. New link up on the links page for Lance's webpage. Its a cute little webpage that doesn't get updated much, like how this site used to be. Be sure to check it out tho, because theres some fun stuff there (even tho I'm not mentioned once in the 'about' section. In fact, the only place I am mentioned on the whole site is some comment like 'mark needs to make a poll for my site, but hes stupid' or something like that.) I may end up posting again tonight, if not, sorry for such a short post.
First I need to thank Todd and Nick for being such great posters. You guys are uber-rad. I saw Harry Potter II tonight. It was good, but unnecessarily long. I liked it better than the first movie, it had a better flow to it, and more action. However, there is one thing that bothers me greatly about the film. The character Dobby is this little elf/gremlin lookin thing that is in the movie a good bit. He is always trying to accomplish things, but has really low self esteem. He also gets very upset when he fails. And it is this that is the problem. In the movie, when he was asked to do things that he was not able to accomplish, he did all of the following: 1) Hit his head about 20 or 30 times on a hard-wood dresser. 2) Pick up a lamp and start smashing it against his head, and 3) BURN himself repeatedly with an iron. Yes, burn himself. Harry Potter, the wonderful movie that kids just love. When the first one came out, kids got out their moms brooms and pretended like they were flying through the air, playing the fictitious game of Quidditch. Now, with the new movie, with any luck, kids will be borrowing their mom's irons and burning the flesh off of their own hands, just like the cute little elf did in the movie. What kind of character is that for a kids movie? They might as well introduce "Suicidal Sally" on the next Sesame Street show. Kids do what they see. Christ.... -=RandomThoughtoftheDay=- Rememver when 7-eleven has such great flavors for slurpee's such as grape, cherry, tropical, orange, and the ever popular 'blue'? I was in 7-eleven today and here was the flavor selection for Slurpees, mind you. Coca-Cola, Vanilla Coke, Mountain Dew, Mountain Dew Blue Rush, Fanta Banana, and Sugar Free Tropico cherry or something. 4 soda flavors. 1 sugar free, and the last was banana? For crap sakes. I want flavors of things that are good and sweet, don't just add cola syrup with carmel color to ice. And sugar free? Who wants a slurpee and then gets excited that theres a sugar free flavor because they are watching their weight? The health conscious do not go to 7-eleven. Get some real flavors, if I wanted frozen cola, I would...freeze....cola... .
Next Friday I work from 5.30am till 5pm. Retail sucks. As we can all see, the comments thing is not as big of a success as I thought and hoped it would be. My vision of an online community is dead. In fact, it never took off. In fact, most of my closest friends don't even post. Thanks for makin' me feel special . Also, in case you didn't notice, my webcam is up, so if you are reading this, check it out and see if I'm here. If I am, shoot me an IM and I will do something crazy for ya! I want a new mp3otw up, but I need some help...if you have an idea, e-mail me.
-=RandomThoughtoftheDay=- I don't know if "uber" is a word, but if its not, it should be. It is the best prefix in the world. Definition: Uber (adj). A heightened state of. Used as a prefix. "He is uber-cool" = he is way cool. She's uber-smart = She is no where close to dumb. Try to use it in a sentence this week and see what happens. Please report all results directly to the comments section of this post.
I'm tired, so ill just give you the highlights. Sunday was my birthday and I had to work at 7am. Until 2pm. Boo. Get off work, attempt to do homework but fall asleep. Wake up late for dinner with the fam. Eat a lovely dinner with the fam. Gifts: Logitech ClickSmart 510, Simpsons season two DVD, some dragon sunglasses, toys (including a lunch box), and the all-so-important CyberPower 1000AVR. Then we had a hockey game. Only 6 of us and no goalie. That meant each one of us played 5/6ths of the game, or 50 mins. Without a goalie. We lost 8 to 6, but we did really great. We took a few slap shots (michael) when we were pretending we were goalies. I scored 2, but i got jump-kicked by a small guy that left a welt. See it at the Hyenas message board. Drinking at The Bank. good times. Brad Mike, Matt, Tim, Casey were all there to help celebrate. I got too drunk and fell asleep, had to wake up the next morning at 7 to write a paper, getting 3 hours of sleep. Still awake, So I should goto bed. *update* The webcam in if effect, thanks to my bro and I.
webcam soon to be up. update later.
Its a few days old, but I want to talk about Veteran's Day. A little Ode to holidays in general. So, happy belated Veteran's Day! What did you get for Veteran's Day? I got a remote control car, a video game, and a Mighty Morphin Power Ranger (which by the way, correct me if I'm wrong, but they didn't really morph so much as ...change costumes). Yes, I am lying. I didn't get any of those wonderful presents. In fact, no one even wished me a happy Veteran's Day. I went through the day and realized that no one cares about Veteran's Day. I'm not saying that I care, but really, no one does anything for it. Okay, maybe a miniature American flag or something, but thats about the extent. Did any of you decorate the us flag this year? Get your Veteran's Day shopping done early finally? Dress up as your favorite General? Read Dr. Seuss's Willy Billy Veteran? Cook a turkey? Dip bullet casings in dye and hide them? No. Did the ghost of Ulysses S. Grant leave you a quarter under your pillow? Veteran's Day is a holiday that someone created because people were complaining that Vets did not get enough recognition and They felt that the 4 weeks in between All Hallows Eve and Thanksgiving was far too long without a holiday. I also wonder if those homeless people on exit ramps made a killing that day. What better day to give your change from the $8.32 you spent at Arby's to the guy holding up the sign that says God Bless? My point is this. Americans cannot seem to celebrate something, or express their interest in something without commercialization. I mean, the holidays that are the most commercialized always do the best. I'll bet that Valentine's Day alone does better than Veteran's Day, Memorial Day, Presidents Day, and Canada Day (Canada) combined. I'm not saying that we should be hanging up our Veteran's Day lights and statues, but I just think that its funny to point out that if there isn't major commercialization of a holiday, no one gives a crap. I'm done. Star Wars Ep II DVD. Very nice. It still has the overdone animated menus (that still go for only about 15 seconds before reloading the audio track for them) and it is still tough to tell what is highlighted (which is a problem in 90% of DVDs I feel), but it is a really good DVD. The video is actually noticeably crisper than a lot of other DVDs because of the direct conversion from digital film onto the DVD. Here are some interesting things from the DVD: - With subtitles, it is confirmed that Obi-Wan says "Send this message...care of the old folks' home." - There is a X-Wing and 2 Tie fighters in the way background that you can see for about 1/2 a second, but they are way too hard to make out and not that interesting even if you can. - The Bloopers easter egg, or "gag reel" is much better in this one, mainly because Hayden Christenson falls down in 3 different scenes. - The commentary is much better than Ep I's commentary, but still not all that great. George Lucas answers the question proposed in clerks by Randal. - Deleted scene with Natalie Portman at her parents house...She is looking top-notch in that outfit...Very nice. A favor. Could you please put either your real name, or at least something recognizable (Al Ranson, etc. okay) but don't put odd stuff ("someone", "youshouldknow"). Who benefits from that? I don't know who writes that stuff and that makes it not fun. I love you.
We Lost! 2-5! or maybe it was 2-6. Boo-urns to that. We just weren't together. Maybe next season. Auto Focus was very interesting. Very good tho. The only thing that bothered me was that they blured out parts of it. I can understand if they were trying to avoid the NC-17 rating, but you would think that they would edit those things out, not blur them out. Anyhow, Willem DeFoe was the man, once again, and Greg Kinnear did very good as well. ![]()
No new phone. I think they are trying to screw me over. The guy last week said, "were getting about 200 phones on wed" so today, two days later, I go in and ask if they got any in and the other guy there says that hes "pretty sure they will never get any phones in. ever. But, you can have one of *these* phones." He points to two phones, one was 50 bucks less than what i paid for mine, and the other was $100 less than what I paid for mine. Please not he did not point to the phone that was of the same value as mine. I guess I just need to talk to the right people. Usually on Saturdays, I have about two hours spread out during the day where I get to sit, or look at catalogs, or the internet. Today, I didn't get to sit down once. The owner was doing paperwork all day, and when we didn't have any customers he would make me clean something. I am tired. Tonight, I will be going to see the film, Auto Focus. Should be a doosie.
Tomarrow I work with the owner of Mailboxes because Nick has to fill in for someone at All Tune and Lube. Now, the owner, Kieth, he is an interesting fellow. If he gets mad, he has to poop, and if he is not doing anything, he will always call nick to tell him he is waiting for something, or to double-check something that needs not to be double checked, or he will poop, etc. I saw Gabe and just about the whole Boulder crew tonight. Good times. I goto bed now.
My sister left today. I was very sad, but I hope she has a safe trip and a great time living in SanFransisco. Other than that, I have a lot of school (bad), but our Counter-Strike server is up (good), and I have a lot of homework (bad), and I got a haircut (good).
New super cool comments section up now! Just click the link below! It is super easy! no 'sign-in' or other page to goto. Just a suave and deboner comments page for each days post. I encourage all of you to at least try it, and even if they are stupid, you should all try to comment on every post when i post it :). I will still use the forums for things. Like suggestions, or whatever.....anything ongoing, but hey! Use the cool new comments!
New mp3otw. finally. Be sure to listen at the time 1:30 in the song. It is by far the coolest part. I'm on the phone with Jason Lang right now. He sounds good. Here is an excerpt of what he is saying right now, "...I mean, I don't make a habit of going to parties where I don't know anyone, but, whatever." -=RandomThoughoftheDay=- With respect to alcohol consumption: "I know what my limit is, I just get too drunk to remember that I hit it."
I am obsesed with playing hockey. I feel bad tho, because no one I think cares about it, but me. Reguardless of whether you like my little updates on how the games went, just smile and knod for me because it makes me happy to talk about it. Here is how the week goes. After the game, I am excited to tell people how it went and whether or not I did well. Then, on monday, I think about if I played good enough or not. On Tuesday I think just how long it is till next sunday. On Wed I wish I was playing hockey. On Thursday I want a hamburger, and friday and saturday I shreek like a 12 year-old in anticipation. Sunday I am bliss. Anyhow, goto the forums and help me out.
Well, I am officially pooped. Worked 7 hours and then played the semi-finals game and won 8-1 against Brozovich and company. It was a good game tho, the other team was just getting too many penalties in the second half. I scored one, but Dan Fortney got a hat trick, so that was pretty cool. Since we are losing some players at the end of the season (they want to move up to the next skill level league), I think that Weston might join us, which would rule. Other than that, school sucks and is hard, Maggie is great, Julie's moving to SanFransisco in a few days and I am tired.
Well, we missed Dave Attell. He is in town for the weekend, and so we go downtown to Nallin's bar last night and we had missed him by about 15 mins. He didn't have the Comedy Central cameras with him, but we didn't care. We just wanted to have a beer with him, not necessarily be on TV. O well, maybe next time. If you would like to play hockey, that is, be on our team, let me know asap because we need players all crazy like. Matt and friend won't come back to our team, even though the reason they left is off of our team now. Whatever. T-Pot is playing at Herman's tomorrow night, so if you would like to go, please call me.
