Well this Christmas was a couple notches down from the past few in terms of excitement, but pretty good overall. My sister got into town Christmas morning and the family spent the day opening presents and eating delicious holiday food. Sarah (my niece) is almost 2 now, so we had a lot of fun with our presents to her. Friends are in town, but they are all just as busy as I am, so theres not the pressing issue of "Crap Mark, we're in town for a few days so why isn't your schedule wide open?" as had been implied in years past. Its a nice mix of seeing family friends and girlfriends this year. I've spent a good amount of time with each and hope to see all of said people more in the next week. And now for some random items. -My battery charger for my digital camera broke on Christmas morning, so I have a whopping 2 pictures from Christmas (but some pretty decent footage on my camcorder). -I saw AJ and Brandon a few days before Christmas and got some good pictures which will go up on flickr soon. -I got an iPod for Christmas and am loving it so far, but am having a tough time getting the feel of iTunes and even the iPod software itself. -For Dan M: I've used spellbound less than expected, what with the built in spell check of blogger and gmail, but so far it works great, assuming the install goes well. -I fixed 2 little display problems on this website that were showing up in Firefox. I should have done that sooner, but never got around to it. -Sara and I has Christmas last night, and it was excellent. I got some slick clothing and a new hat because Louie chewed up my old one.
Happy Holidays Everybody. Why are you on the computer? It's Christmas. Go open presents, or spread cheer, or something.
I participated in the Flickr "A Day In The Life Of" project. Click here to see what I did yesterday.
So it's official now. Late last week, I was told that I am now full time at IHS Energy. This was quite relieving news, as I have been trying to get on full time for some time now. I was also given a pretty nice raise, which is awesome. The funny part was that I wasn't told anything until about a week after I was hired, so I got this pay c heck that was unusually big. I thought there was a mistake in payroll, so when my boss brought me into his office, he said, "Did you notice anything different about your paycheck last week?" but then he had to answer his phone. While he was on his phone I was freaking out, thinking I was getting in trouble. I was making sure I would word this exactly how I was gonna say it. In my head, I practiced to myself, "I honestly was going to say something, it's just that work has been so busy and that isn't a priority in my mind, and--" He got off the phone and told me I had been hired last week and that my check was correct. It was pretty funny. Now they can't outsource me without a nice severance package. sweet. -=MovieQuoteoftheDay=- "Blast this Christmas music! It's joyful and triumphant."
This is huge. The only (but big) disadvantage from switching from IE to Firefox has been the lack of a spell checker, ,which iespell so graciously provided. But today I found spellbound, a Firefox plug-in for right-click spell checking of a text area on a web page. Now there is absolutely no reason to still use IE, except, of course for stupid windows updates. After I use this plug-in for a while, I'll tell you how I like it. -=MovieQuoteoftheDay=- "Hey, it's the wizard! I hope you don't get nervous like last time. We wouldn't want you to... 'wiz' on someone!"
The past 24 hours have been pretty crazy for me, considering how much I have driven for being a somewhat normal day. First, I drove from my home in Arvada to work at I-25 & County Line. After work, I drove to Sara's apartment in downtown Denver. We watched Scrubs, but were disappointed as it was a repeat. Then I drove to 104th and Sheridan to see my Dad's Hockey team take on Matt Brozovich's hockey in what was quite an exciting game (at least the part I got to see). After that I went to pick my sister up at the Airport. She is in town for a few days to babysit my niece. We went to get coffee at McCoy's in north-west Denver, and then I drove her to my brother's house at 120th and Lowell. After that I was able to come home. Unfortunately, I have to be up at 5:45 to be back at work at 7 because it's an important day. Other than that, I didn't do much.
Flickr lets me post to this blog from within Flickr. Flickr is good like that.
Don't have tome to post, but internet is still off and I put up some St. Louis photos on flickr ----->
