The Star Wars: Episode III convention is coming soon. As you may or may not know, I will be attending the event in Indianapolis. There will be several other people going like Michael, Sara, maybe Nick, maybe Matt. Maybe some other people, i don't know. Anyhow, my brother has set up a cool little discussion board for all inquiries located to the right if this post (that is, if you are not looking in the archives, then i probably have already been to the convention, had a great time, then took down the link). So click on Darth, and discuss (again, this does not apply if it's 2006). Second, I am having problems with my gmail notifier today. It won't check my mail. Instead it directs me to log in and is not working at all. However, I decided that the Google accounts login page is a great domain name generator. The little words it gives you to type in sound like English and are made up words. If you refresh the page, you can keep getting new words, some of which have a .com name available. Good idea if you want to make up a word (some I have found: sesigi.com, wergee.com, hedogi.com, etc..). If that doesn't find you a domain, play some wordster. Oh, and here's a questionable one...
Last Friday, I was contacted by Leander Kahney concerning my "iPod Shuffle in 3 easy Steps" picture. Leander is a reporter for Wired Magazine, writes The Cult of Mac Blog, and is writing a book about iPod culture. He wanted to know if it would be okay to use my picture in his book. I of course told him he could. It was funny because he wanted the "original" hi-resolution image. There never was a hi-resolution image. I pretty much made the picture for fun and threw it up on flickr one night before leaving work, so I had to take the original 3 images and recreate the picture to give to him. Anyhow, I was pretty excited that a picture I took (granted not my favorite picture I have taken, but one of my pictures, nonetheless) will be published in a book. I think thats pretty neat. Also, 10 points for anyone who can tell me if Leander is a boy or girl. -=MovieQuoteoftheDay=- "Wow. Holy Smoke, crash landing."
I have been getting a lot done at work lately. It feels really good. I think that when I am working on something that is new and challenging that I think will be a cool feature for my application, I am very on task and work hard at it. But when I am doing something that will not have much noticeable impact, I tend to get very distracted and am much less motivated to work. As far as the rest of my life, I have a very good St. Valentines' Day with Sara. We ate some sandwiches and watched a movie. We watched "The Notebook" which I got for her. I had a big problem with this movie, and my problem was this: The main character falls in love with a boy and they love each other very much and he treats her very well. Unfortunately, she is forced to move away against her will with her parents. In her new location (after 7 years or something) she falls in love a wealthy boy who her parents do like and she gets engaged to him. He also treats her very well. Before she gets married, she crosses paths with lover #1 and can't help but bone him. Now she is torn between these two and ends up back with lover #1. Thing is, she boned this guy, and she had a great fianc who treats her like gold who just got cheated on. This made me just hate the main character and think what a stupid girl she is stringing these two guys along because she can't make up her mind. It really just made me mad. At least they could have given the rich guy some flaw, like a lazy eye or a overactive bladder or something to make us see who the clear choice should be for her. -=MovieQuoteoftheDay=- (Sara is not allowed to answer this. We just watched it) "One scoop of creamed potatoes. A slice of butter. Four peas. And as much ice cream as you'd like to eat."
My sister Julie and her friend Serena have volunteered to be a part of the tsunami relief effort. In a few weeks, they leave for Sri Lanka to help rebuild a school that was destroyed in the village of Mahamodara. The trip will cost them a combined total of around $4,200. They have to pay for plane tickets, food, transportation, lodging, building supplies, as well as the administrative costs of the program. They are taking donations if you would like to help them with their finances. I strongly encourage you to donate in some way, if not to my sister then to UNICEF or the Red Cross. At dinner the other night I realized if I can spend 50 bucks on food for one meal, I could probably afford to donate.
As promised, here are the pictures of the new house, and I even got a video for you all. [Pictures] [Video 2.5MB] Also check out the pictures I took in Julesberg, CO this weekend.
Yes, you're absolutely right. I haven't put up the pictures of my house yet. Well, you see, I haven't unpacked my card reader or Camera USB cable yet. I know its not a good excuse, but It's all I have right now. Don't worry, I have some (arguably) amazing pictures of beautiful Julesberg, Colorado to upload. I will get the pics up tonight, I promise. Even if it means staying up past midnight. Until then, all I can offer you is this: ![]() -=MovieQuoteoftheDay=- "Do you find that this approach usually works? Or let me guess, you've never tried it before. In fact, you don't normally approach girls - am I right? The truth is that you're a quiet sensitive type but, if I'm prepared to take a chance, I might just get to know the inner you: witty, adventurous, passionate, loving, loyal. Taxi! A little bit crazy, a little bit bad. But hey - don't us girls just love that?"
I put up a new mp3otw for everyone. The band is Neutral Milk Hotel. I found this band playing on my launchCAST one day and have loved them ever since. Despite the album being older (1998) and feeling like I was really on the back end of the bands existence (I believe they are broken up now), I decided to purchase the album anyway. I can say that I am very glad I did. They're classified in the "lo-fi" genre, and if other lo-fi is as good as this, then I think I will become a big lo-fi fan. Anyhow, give 'er a listen and see what you think. (Neutral Milk Hotel on Amazon) Also, my iPod mod picture has now hit over 100,000 views. damn.
