This Has Not Been My Month For Bills

Last week, I woke up on one of those ever-mundane weekdays and said to myself, "Self, Have you paid your Xcel bill this month?" I answered myself with a semi-confident, "No" and proceeded to go get the bill. After looking through my paperwork for a while, I realized that I didn't receive an Excel bill in the mail this month. I hadn't. So I did what any good consumer would, I called Xcel and waited on hold for a half an hour. When I was finally transfered for the 3rd time, and had explained to everyone that my bill had not come this month, they kindly told me that there was nothing they could do except re-enter my mailing address in their records.

The lady also told me that the bill for seventy dollars was "due yesterday" and gladly let me pay the late bill out of my checking account, but could not count it as on time. This probably is all a result of our mailman hating us, but that is a different story.

While on hold with Xcel, I decided to check my cell phone bill, just make sure I wasn't late on that one too. I was. 6 days late. Thats cool. Not to mention a few days prior I got a credit card bill asking me to pay a late fee for my first credit card payment ever, which was late because of Our Mailman not picking up mail for 3 days + The bill being due on a Sunday + The following Monday being a holiday. This just has not been my month for bills.

Rilo Kiley

I saw a show tonight at the Gothic Theatre. The band was the difficult to pronounce Rilo Kiley. A while ago I heard this girl singing this kind of inde/90's alternative/emo/country music on my Launchcast Radio, and decided to investigate. I ended up liking them and recommended the band to Sara who liked them a lot. They put on a good show. A lot of energy, great sound, and they even changed up some breakdowns and endings of songs which is always a nice surprise when you see live shows.

Their openers were The Brunettes, who I recently saw open for The Shins. They're funny little New Zealanders who pitched a TV pilot to a New Zealand station staring themselves as kind of a cross between Alf and the Monkeys. Yep. Then there was Feist, who was one girl with one electric guitar who knew how to play it well and sing very well as well. All three were good and I'm glad I had a chance to see such a unique and fun show.

Another Girl!

It's A Girl!  Michael and Kat are having second baby, and they found out this week that it's a girl! I am quite excited since their last kid has been such a wonderful part of my life over the past 2 years. Congradulations, Michael and Kat. I can't wait to meet her and I hope she is just as wonderful as Sarah. So far you guys are batting 1000 and I'm guessing the streak will continue.

Hello from The Gateway To the West! Well, not that I'm actually in the arch right now or anything, but I am in St. Louis, birthplace of my dear mother and current home of my girlfriends parent's. Sara and I came out here to supprise her father for his birthday (Monday). He didn't know we were coming. WHen we got here he was playing Zelda on Gamecube(awesome), and Sara snuck up behind him and said "How's it goin?" He had no idea and it was cool. Today we will be going to see Star Wars Episode III because he has yet to see it.

Here's Something cool too, my co-worker friend Jason Sypher made a Dashboard Widget for the new Mac OSX Tiger. It is a (software development) project monitoring widget, and you can see what it looks like here. I made the graphics, and I think it came out pretty cool.
