It's Too Bad About Geese

It's sad that geese have to eat grass all day. I know I wouldn't be verry happy if I had to do that. Then everyone gives them a hard time because their poop is so green and sticky. It's just too bad about geese.
You know what? To be honest I just felt bad for her, we all just felt bad for her."

bluishorange

Update: She added official feeds, see below...

Bluishorange is a weblog I enjoy reading on a regular basis. Unfortunately, it's never had a feed, so I never end up reading it because I always forget. Yesterday I found out about this service called feed43.com which produces an rss feed from any page you want. It's a little tricky to get set up, especially for the faint-of-html-heart, but a really neat idea nonetheless. Anyhow I set up a feed for bluishorange using the service. Now I can happily read bluishorange without breaking my feed reading habits.

Well it looks like she finally has feeds of her own. 3 of them! Now there is no need for the the non-official ones anymore, so I removed them. Thanks Alison. Here they are:

Word Verification Confusion

The other day I tried to sign up for a Yahoo Group/Mailing List sort of thing, and to sign up, I needed to prove I was a human by typing in the letters and numbers that appear on a picture. I'm sure you have all had to do this sort of thing, but here were my pictures:

Ok. This one has got to be F, J?, L definitely L, I, u! nope. On to my second try.

Ok, I'm getting the hang of this I think. This one is e, d, K or X? Let's go with X. e again? then L. Thats got to be it. no again.

Now I'm a pro. This one is u, 8, B, W. But is that a giant L running through the whole thing? No, their trying to trick me here. u8BW, final answer....

...and I was in fact a big winner. My prize? I am now officially signed up for the automated javascript unit testing mailing list. I couldn't be happier.

Wendy's

So I'm at wendys the other day with Sara, sitting next to us is this guy listening to music on his headphones, eating some Chili. I go up to the counter to get a refill of lemonade and the guy also comes up to the counter. He says to the Wendys employee "Listen man, I love two things in life: Music, and chili and I just ran out of one. Can you guess which?" as he holds up two bucks.

If only we all could be that true.

New Software

Today, thanks to the site macgrab.com, I won licenses for both AppZapper (application uninstaller), a program I think is nice and should be in OSX by default, and Menuet, a program that I will give a try, but probably not use. It took a while to win, but I am quite happy getting over $25 worth of software for free.

I have also been considering buying Transmit FTP, a neat graphical FTP client with a bonus (and very cool) dashboard widget, and MarsEdit, a blog publishing tool that integrates into blogger among others. I was just wondering if anyone had experience with these pieces of software and could recommed for or against them. They're each about $25 I think.

(p.s. funny note, blogger spell check didn't know the word 'blog' or 'blogger'. That seems kind of funny)

Ice Hockey, Game One

My brother and I joined an Ice Hockey team, The Ligers, this winter. We have never really played ice hockey before so it's a challenge, but also unbelievably fun. Sara works with a nice girl named Becky, whos boyfriend, Brian is why I'm on the team. Well, last night we had a pre-season practice and Brian took a spill and broke his ankle. He has surgery next week. I just feel awful about that, but I guess it's better than breaking it playing Kickball (which apparently he has done before). "It's an old hockey injury" just sound so much better than "Ah, it's an old Kickball injury," in my opinion.

The game tonight was awesome and we won five six to one I think. Despite looking like an alpacca on a unicycle out there, I managed to score a couple times thanks to my new friend called luck. I can't wait till next where I will be playing at 11:15, right after I watch the Av's kill Montreal from the 20th row.

(p.s. read on to the next post. It's new too)
